YOUR FIRST LESSON/ ARRIVING FOR A LESSON

Your first lesson is an evaluation of your riding ability to help us determine which class level would be the best for you. This will be a private lesson. Those of you with no prior horse experience will automatically be scheduled into a beginner class. Your instructor will conduct the evaluation lesson, explain our school procedures and discuss appropriate attire. You MUST arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled lesson. This will allow you time to check in and tack-up your assigned horse.

SCHEDULING A LESSON

You may schedule lessons by phone or in person. Our phone number is 760.728.5625. The office is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During show season (March – October) we may be attending a horse show on a Saturday. You will usually know in advance when we plan to attend a horse show. Horses are assigned by the instructor according to your riding ability.

CANCELLING A LESSON/ INCLEMENT WEATHER

Since your lesson reserves time with your instructor and the exclusive use of a horse, we require that you cancel any lessons you cannot make at least 24 hours in advance. Call 760.728.5625 to cancel, and/or re-schedule a lesson. Reminder: you are still charged for a missed lesson, which has not been cancelled 24 hours in advance. If weather conditions are unsafe, or if the footing in the area is too wet, the trainer will call to cancel your lesson.

RIDING CLOTHES FOR LESSONS/SCHOOLING

There are a few basic items required for your safety. Additional items can be purchased when you decide how committed you want to be in the sport. All riders are required to wear an approved hard hat with harness at all times while riding. We have some schooling helmets for your use, but we recommend that you buy your own if you continue to regularly take lessons. Closed-toed shoes are mandatory when at the barn. Either paddock boots or knee high boots are the preferred choice in footwear. Riding in shorts during a lesson is not permitted, and shirts must be appropriate. Come in clothes that you aren’t afraid to get a bit dirty.
